AR Rahman's name is synonymous to excellency in music, and this album is not an exception. With the much awaited release of Ada- the way of life, Rahman has definitely not disappointed his fans.
He rather puts his fans in dilemma even in choosing which song to listen first, and am sure those who heard the entire album will find it difficult to choose 1 favorite song. He started his composition for this movie early in 2002, and managed to complete this in 2008.
Rahman’s experimentation with Rashid Ali and Parul Mishra has flabbergasted his fans, and gained a huge fan base for both new comers. All the songs are good in their own way. Guitar and piano has taken the pivotal roles in all the songs.
Ishq Ada hai (Rashid Ali – Male Version and Parul Mishra – Female version) Both male and female version of the song has been scored extremely well. The song starts with a wonderful guitar piece. Parul’s razor-sharp voice is so refreshing. Hats off to her voice and pitch. Rating:9/10
Hawa Sun Hawa (Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik) Sonu’s and Alka’s voice combine to present you a breathtaking melody. The flute played by Navin when blends with vocal are just stunning. The song resembles Ishq Bina from Taal, and the flute notes resemble that of Ennavale from Kaadhalan. One of the best duets this year. Rating:9/10
Gumsum (Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik) Yet another chirpy duet number, slightly faster than Hawa Sun Hawa. The song makes you tap your feet with elegant movements. Rehman surprises you with a wonderful guitar entry at the end of this song. Rating:8/10
Gulfisha (Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Vivian) Sonu and Sunidhi's combination along with vivian’s hymn are good retreat to one's ears(resembles like Enigma song); Sunidhi has done an appreciable job when she takes high pitch that ends with Vivian’s chants-well synchronized. Rating:8/10
Mehrbaan (ARR) Rahman with his mesmerized voice has made me totally dumbstruck with words to express the beautiful composition of this song. You just feel like listening to the song again and again. This song reminds me of Vellai Pookal from Kannathil Muthamittal in melody. Rating:10/10
Mehrbaan (Instrumental) The magical word is “Guitar”. That speaks about the entire song. Rating:10/10
Tu Mera Hai (Chitra, Sukhwinder Singh, Naresh Iyer) Nothing unusual about this song. ARR’s favourite singer Chitra has as usual given her best in this song. I am worried that Naresh is not used properly in this song. Rating:5/10
Hai Dard (Udit Narayanan) Arabic style of music along with Udit’s voice is good. This must be a situational sad song in the movie!! Nothing much to say. Rating:5/10
Milo Wahan Wahan (Alka Yagnik and Jayachandran) Gazal lovers like this song. Jayachandran, a Kollywood veteran singer all new in Bollywood has done a decent job. This song remembers me of Swarnalatha's Evano Oruvan (movie Alaipayuthey) Rating:7/10
AR Rahman - Man with magical strings and mesmerizing voice!!! Listen to his song Mehrbaan below.
